Steve has worked in the marine management and policy sector for the last 15 years.
He is currently Head of the Marine Programme at the UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre in Cambridge and the former Director of the Centre for Marine and Coastal Policy Research at the University of Plymouth, where he retains an Associate Professorship in Marine Policy. He has expertise in Integrated Coastal Management, Marine Spatial Planning, Marine Ecosystem Services Assessment, Marine Conservation, and Marine Policy. He has extensive international marine policy and management experience, including in Europe, South-East Pacific, Western Indian Ocean, and Mediterranean Sea.
He has managed several large international projects and provided support and advice to numerous governments and organisations. His research has been widely published in the principal marine policy journals and he has been an invited speaker at numerous UK and international events.
Steve lives in Cambridge, which ironically, is a long way from the sea!
