Dr. Cross completed an Undergraduate degree in Marine Biology and Oceanography at the University of Plymouth where he was awarded First Class Honours. He remained at Plymouth, where he was awarded his PhD in physical oceanography and suspended particle dynamics in shelf and coastal seas. Having spent several years remaining as a research scientist in the field of physical oceanography, he has also acquired a large amount of teaching experience through his role as Associate Lecturer, specialising in oceanography, physics and statistics at Undergraduate level. Dr. Cross is the author of several publications in the field of Oceanography in high impact-factor journals, and currently works as a Lecturer and Science Education Specialist at the Marine Learning Alliance.

Away from the office Jaimie's family tend to keep him busy, but he also manages to find time to indulge in a bit of triathlon training - though his racing days are rapidly fading into history!
