MA Professional Education Practice

The MA in Professional Education Practice is a part-time distance learning programme which aims to develop and enrich the professional teaching practice of educators working in all sectors, including marine.  The course is validated and has been developed and is delivered in collaboration with Plymouth Marjon University, ranked No 1 in England for Teaching Quality[1][2].

The programme will be of interest to those who are seeking to deepen their understanding of teaching and learning and enhance their practice as educators.  The programme offers flexible pathways and is designed to build confidence in the theory and practice of teaching at the different stages.

A short introductory access module titled ‘Access to Professional Education Practice’ is available for applicants who have not studied at University level for some time.

A core feature of the Master’s programme is the concept of the reflective practitioner.  Early modules introduce the underpinning principles of teaching, and encourage critical reflection on cultures and communities of education relevant to the local region of study.  The programme content encourages reflection on, and enhancement of, ethical and inclusive educational practice and focuses on core values of social and environmental sustainability.

There are options to undertake part of the full MA programme for the award of Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma.
